One of the Maya backstrap loom weavers working on a Puryear 'Fusion de Maya' scarf at our textile cooperative in Solola Guatemala. I'm pleased to be one of their customers supporting the traditional textile practices of the Maya women and I'm happy to report that their business is growing, their facility will soon be expanded !
The editors of online magazine Hand/Eye--World Craft Culture, asked me to write an article about Fusion de Maya and my Guatemalan travels.
2018 NEW PLACEMAT SETS. I weave placemats with my favorite 'reused' matchsticks, pairing them with jaspe (ikat) napkins from Amigos de Santa Cruz, a community on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala...another cooperative that I work with and do color advising for. Napkins are made from typical Maya cotton garment fabrics.
